 A
Vast Inventory of Materials
Scot Forge maintains an extensive inventory of ferrous and
non ferrous materials including the grades you use most often:
Carbon: 1030, 1045, 1050
Alloy: 4130, 4140, 4150, 4340, 4350,
Stainless: 304, 316, and 431
Forging Advantages
Embossing is expensive. Therefore your rolls, whether solid
spindles or hollow shells and headers, must be of a quality
and integrity to last as long as possible. Forging offers
many advantages - including longer service life - when compared
to rolled bar or tubing.
Near Net Shapes
Our forging process allows us to offer parts closer to net
shape with forged-in instead of machined-in steps. This avoids
excessive material usage, unnecessary machining, and their
related costs. And unlike rolled bar, forged step shafts allow
for journal hardness retention after machining.
Directional Grain Flow
The forging process produces directional grain flow that results
in superior mechanical properties.
Structural Integrity
Forging yields stable, homogenous parts with a refined grain
structure that allows for clean, sharp engraving results,
especially when compared to mechanical tubing.
